Luis Enrique addressed the media during a press conference leading up to PSG’s opening Ligue 1 match against Lorient, where the spotlight inevitably fell on the Kylian Mbappe situation.

The future of Neymar, Marco Verratti, and Ousmane Dembele also came under discussion, offering insight from the former Barcelona coach.

The ongoing ‘Mbappe soap opera’ continues to cast a shadow, with no definitive resolution in sight. Mbappe remains sidelined, making his inclusion in the squad for the Lorient clash uncertain.

Luis Enrique, however, holds an optimistic view that a positive resolution is attainable.

“This is a situation that has arisen in the past and has been managed positively between the club and the player, even before my time here,” Luis Enrique clarified during his pre-match press briefing.

Enrique believe that an agreement can be resolved between the club and the player. He recall the president’s statement: the club’s stature surpasses individuals, whether players or sporting directors, and I wholeheartedly concur.”

Neymar and Verratti are among those who may depart PSG during the summer transfer window. Luis Enrique has engaged in discussions with them, although the specifics remain confidential.

“My conversations with them remain confidential. I prefer to maintain the privacy of what was discussed. My words hold meaning, but my actions hold even more weight,” he added.

The signing of Ousmane Dembele is yet to be finalized, leading Luis Enrique to confirm his absence from Saturday’s match.

As for now Enrique stated that Dembele isn’t officially a PSG player. Regrettably, he won’t be available for tomorrow’s game since he’s not yet 100 percent confirmed as a PSG player. He’s at 99 percent.”

Unresolved Challenges in the Champions League

Luis Enrique was prompted to comment on the contrasting challenges posed by the Champions League compared to the relatively smoother path to clinching the Ligue 1 title.

“My presence here underscores the need for change. We must approach every league and cup fixture with the same level of competitiveness that we bring to the Champions League. I aim for 100 minutes of relentless attacking football,” he declared.

PSG’s main objective is to bring excitement to the fans. From what I’ve seen and heard from my players, we’re working towards that rhythm. Our progress is evident. We’re committed to delivering an entertaining performance, yet I anticipate Lorient will present a formidable challenge. We aspire to dominate the game from the opening whistle until the very last.”

In a spirited message, Luis Enrique conveyed his determination to strike a balance between domestic and European campaigns, while pledging a captivating brand of football for PSG supporters.
