In a bid to bolster their striking options, Juventus has engaged in discussions with Chelsea regarding the potential acquisition of forward Romelu Lukaku. Lukaku, who spent the previous season on loan at Inter Milan, has garnered interest from his former club as well as Saudi Arabian outfit Al Hilal. In a separate deal, AC Milan has reached an agreement with Chelsea to secure the services of USA forward Christian Pulisic.
Juventus has actively explored the prospect of bringing Romelu Lukaku on board, initiating talks with Chelsea over a potential transfer.
Inter Milan has expressed a strong desire to secure Lukaku’s permanent return to the San Siro and is in the process of formulating an offer amounting to £35 million to entice Chelsea into releasing the Belgian international.
Reports indicate that Inter may require funds from player sales to facilitate this move and is engaged in ongoing negotiations with Manchester United regarding the transfer of goalkeeper Andre Onana.
Romelu Lukaku has expressed his preference to continue his career in Italy, although uncertainties remain regarding Inter’s financial ability to meet Chelsea’s demands.
With a steadfast commitment to securing a permanent spot at Inter, Lukaku is reportedly willing to accept a reduction in salary, amounting to nearly £1 million annually, underscoring his determination to remain with the Serie A club.
Adding another dimension to the saga, Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal continues to display a keen interest in acquiring the services of the 30-year-old striker, who initially transferred from Inter to Chelsea for a staggering £97.5 million in August 2021.
Addressing the matter during a press conference following his appointment at Chelsea, Mauricio Pochettino stated his anticipation for Lukaku’s return to pre-season training.
After a season-long loan stint at Inter, Lukaku’s relationship with Chelsea had frayed due to a controversial interview where he expressed his discontent under former head coach Thomas Tuchel.
“He is expected to rejoin the squad for pre-season between July 12 and 13,” Pochettino remarked, highlighting the protocol for incoming players to introduce themselves and express their commitment upon arrival.
In parallel news, AC Milan has successfully reached an agreement with Chelsea for the transfer of forward Christian Pulisic, with a fee estimated at €22 million.
Pulisic has been granted permission to undergo a medical examination with the seven-time European champions and finalize the terms of his personal agreement.
